| Lighter |
Lighters, barges, and similar vessels usually had a simple mizzenmast rigging. It consisted of a column mast, 1 or 2 staysails and a gaff sail with a boom but often without the latter. Some of these ships, for example Dutch cogs, also carried a sprint sail instead of a gaff sail.
